BaZi Lab ("BaZi Lab", "we", "us") operates the website https://www.bazi-lab.com, a free online BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny) calculator with AI-assisted readings, a life trajectory chart, luck pillar and love compatibility tools, a daily Chinese almanac, a conversational BaZi Agent, and paid monthly reports. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the website, how we use it, with whom we share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

This policy applies to everything on bazi-lab.com, including the optional account you can create by signing in with Google or with an email address and password. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the website. Where this policy refers to "Google user data", it means the information Google shares with us when you choose to sign in with your Google Account.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we change how we use Google user data or make other material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for account holders, notify you by email or with a notice on the website. Continued use of the website after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.

Important Notice About Your Data

Data usage: The birth date, time, place and gender you enter are used only to calculate and interpret your BaZi chart. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with data brokers, we do not use it for targeted advertising, and we do not use it to train general-purpose machine-learning or AI models.

Disclaimer: BaZi readings provided by this website are for reference and entertainment purposes only. They should not be the sole basis for important decisions about your finances, career, relationships or health. Please consult qualified professionals before making significant decisions.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Birth information you enter

To calculate a chart you enter a birth date, birth time, birth place (city or longitude), gender and optionally a name. You can use every free calculator without an account, in which case this information is processed to produce the result and is not linked to any account. If you are signed in, the chart can be saved to your profile so you can open it again later.

Account information

When you register with an email address we collect that email address and a password (stored only as a salted hash). When you sign in with Google we receive your Google account identifier, name, email address and profile picture from Google (see "Google user data" below). We also store your account settings, preferred language, and membership status.

Google user data

Sign-in with Google requests only the basic "openid", "email" and "profile" scopes. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Contacts or any other Google service, and we never post anything to your Google Account.

Charts, reports and conversations

If you are signed in, we store the BaZi charts you save, the reports generated for those charts, and your conversations with the BaZi Agent, so that you can return to them from your profile. Charts you share via a share link are shown publicly at that link with only the Four Pillars, the life trajectory chart and the birth year; the full birth date, time and place are never included.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number and other payment details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout pages and are never stored on our servers. We keep only what is needed to manage your purchase: the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, the plan you bought, the amount, currency and date, and the invoice status.

Usage and device information

When you visit the website our servers and analytics tools automatically record your IP address, approximate country, browser type, operating system, screen size, referring page, the pages you view and the actions you take on them, and the time of each request. We do not collect precise device location; the birth place you enter is the only location information we process, and it is used solely for the chart calculation.

Information you send us

If you contact us by email or through the contact page, we keep the correspondence so we can respond to you and improve the service.

How We Handle Google User Data

This section describes specifically how BaZi Lab accesses, uses, stores and shares the information we receive from Google when you sign in with your Google Account.

What we access

  • Your Google account identifier (a unique ID, not your password)
  • Your name as shown on your Google profile
  • Your primary Google email address
  • Your Google profile picture URL

How we use it

  • To create your BaZi Lab account and sign you in without a separate password
  • To display your name and picture in your profile and navigation bar
  • To send you emails about your account, such as report readiness, receipts, security notices and, if you have not unsubscribed, occasional product news
  • To recognise you as the owner of the charts, reports and conversations saved to your account

Who we share it with

Google user data is stored in our database and is accessible only to the service providers that host and operate the website on our behalf (listed under "Third-Party Service Providers" below), each bound by contract to use it only to provide their service to us. We do not sell Google user data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it to train AI models. Your Google email address is passed to Stripe only if you make a purchase, so that your receipt can be issued.

How we protect it

All traffic to bazi-lab.com is encrypted with HTTPS. The database is hosted in a managed cloud environment with access restricted to authorised personnel, protected by authentication and network controls. We do not store your Google password and we do not store Google access or refresh tokens after the sign-in is complete.

How long we keep it

We keep your Google name, email address and picture for as long as your BaZi Lab account exists. You can request deletion at any time (see "Data Retention and Deletion"), after which this data is removed from our active systems within 30 days.

BaZi Lab's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Calculate your BaZi chart, luck pillars, life trajectory and compatibility results.
  • Generate AI-assisted readings and monthly reports for the charts you choose.
  • Create and manage your account, and sign you in.
  • Process payments, manage subscriptions and credits, and issue receipts.
  • Email you about your account, purchases, and changes to our services.
  • Send occasional product news to registered users; every such email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • Respond to your questions and support requests.
  • Measure how the website is used so that we can fix problems and improve it.
  • Enforce usage limits, prevent abuse and fraud, and keep the service secure.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Important: Your birth information, charts, reports and conversations are used only to provide the service to you. We do not use them for advertising, we do not sell them, and we do not use them to train general-purpose AI models.

AI Processing

AI-assisted readings, reports and the BaZi Agent are produced by sending your chart (the Four Pillars, luck pillars, gender and birth year) together with your question to a third-party large language model provider (currently OpenAI or DeepSeek, depending on the feature). We send only what is needed for the reading; we do not send your name, email address or Google account information to these providers.

These providers process the request to return a response and, under their API terms, do not use API data to train their models. The chart calculation itself (Four Pillars, luck pillars, life trajectory) is performed by our own software and never involves AI.

Sharing and Disclosure

We share personal information only in the following situations:

Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on the following companies to operate the website. Each receives only the data it needs to perform its service and may not use it for its own purposes:

  • Vercel: website hosting, content delivery network and server logs
  • MongoDB Atlas: database hosting for accounts, charts, reports and conversations
  • Stripe: payment processing, subscriptions and invoices
  • Resend: delivery of account, transactional and product emails
  • Google (Sign in with Google, Google Analytics): authentication and aggregated usage statistics
  • Microsoft Clarity: aggregated usage statistics and session replay with sensitive form fields masked
  • OpenAI and DeepSeek: AI language models for readings, reports and the BaZi Agent
  • Upstash: rate limiting; stores only hashed identifiers and counters for a short time

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid request from a public authority, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud.

Business Transfers

If BaZi Lab is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

What we never do

We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with data brokers, we do not use it for targeted advertising, and we do not use it to train general-purpose machine-learning or AI models.

Security

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information: HTTPS encryption for all traffic, hashed passwords, access controls on our database and hosting accounts, ownership checks on every request that reads a saved chart or report, and rate limiting to prevent abuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data using reasonable industry practices and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a data breach where the law requires it.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Account information (including Google user data): for as long as your account exists.
  • Saved charts, reports and BaZi Agent conversations: until you delete them from your profile or your account is deleted. You can delete individual charts and conversations yourself at any time.
  • Charts calculated without an account: processed to produce the result and not stored against any identity. A temporary cache of recent calculations is kept in server memory only for performance.
  • Payment records: for as long as required by tax and accounting law, typically 7 years, even after your account is deleted.
  • Server logs and analytics data: kept by our providers for their standard periods (generally between 30 days and 26 months) and only in aggregated or pseudonymous form thereafter.
  • Support correspondence: up to 2 years after the last message.

To delete your account and all associated data, including any information received from Google, email us at support@bazi-lab.com from the address linked to your account. We will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to keep. You can also revoke BaZi Lab's access to your Google Account at any time from your Google Account permissions page (myaccount.google.com/permissions); doing so does not by itself delete the data already in your BaZi Lab account, so please also send us a deletion request.

Children's Privacy

The website is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the applicable age), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise these rights by:

  • Opening your profile to view, update or delete your saved charts and conversations
  • Using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email to stop receiving product news
  • Managing cookies in your browser settings
  • Emailing support@bazi-lab.com for access, export, correction or deletion of your account and data

We respond to requests within 30 days. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another jurisdiction with a data protection authority, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with that authority.

Cookies and Analytics

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your preferences; analytics cookies help us understand how the website is used. The main ones are:

  • next-auth session cookies: keep you signed in to your account (essential)
  • bz_cmp: remembers that you arrived from one of our email campaigns for up to 1 day (essential to deliver the campaign bonus)
  • _ga and related cookies: Google Analytics, used to produce aggregated usage statistics
  • _clck and _clsk: Microsoft Clarity, used to produce aggregated usage statistics and session replays with form inputs masked

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on and of Microsoft Clarity at clarity.microsoft.com.

International Transfers

BaZi Lab serves users worldwide. Our service providers store and process data in the United States and other countries that may have different data protection laws from your own. Where required, we rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards for these transfers.

Disclaimer of Analysis Results

The BaZi analysis and readings provided through our website are based on traditional Chinese metaphysical principles and are intended for informational and entertainment purposes only. While we strive to provide accurate and insightful readings, please note:

  • All readings and predictions should be considered as possibilities rather than certainties.
  • Our analysis should not be used as the sole basis for making major life decisions.
  • We recommend consulting with appropriate professionals (financial advisors, career counselors, healthcare providers, etc.) before making significant decisions.
  • We do not guarantee specific outcomes based on our readings.
  • Individual experiences may vary, and the interpretation of BaZi readings can be subjective.
